Alzheimer's Society Dementia Friends Training

30th April 2019

Today, a group of students from across school have taken part in Dementia training and are now qualified Dementia Friends. The training is part of a wider initiative taking place in school, in conjunction with Beamish Museum, which aims to smash the misconceptions around dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

These students will attend a trip to Beamish during Dementia Awareness week where they will be meeting people with dementia and taking part in shared activities together.
