YEAR 5 DEARNE VALLEY RESIDENTIAL
The Dearne Valley residential visit will take place from Monday 9th March 2020 to Wednesday 11th March 2020. Please find below some practical information relating to the arrangements for arriving into school, contact during the visit and medication. In the meantime, please do get in touch if you have any questions or queries. Wishing our Year 5 pupils a fantastic and memorable experience.
On the day...
Please come into school on Monday 9th March in outdoor gear / footwear ready for the afternoon activities.
Bags and suitcases are to be brought to the main hall upon arrival in school.
Books / equipment will be left in lockers.
Pupils will be given their visit hoodies prior to departing.
We will depart at 9.30am on Monday 9th March. Pupils are required to bring a packed lunch with them for lunch time on Monday. If your child is eligible for free school meals and you would like school to provide a packed lunch then please let me know.
Return afternoon on Wednesday 11th March at approximately 4pm, but please check the school Facebook page for updates in case we are running a little late due to traffic.
Snacks and Tuck Money
Dearne Valley operate a strict NUT AND SEED FREE policy. Snacks should comply with this policy.
Pupils are welcome to bring snacks, treats and drinks for consumption during the visit if they wish.
Spending money of £5 should be handed in to the main office on the morning of Monday 9th March in a clearly labelled envelope or money bag.

Please state that you want to talk to a teacher from Highfield Middle School, giving your name and the name of the child. (Please ensure that you leave a contact number if this is different to the one you have advised on the SV5 form.)
It is important that the contact details on the SV5 form are up to date and correct. If you wish to check, please ask.
Medication
ALL medication should be registered on the SV5 form. This includes medication that will be self-administered by the pupil. Please note that medication NOT on the SV5 form will not be taken on the residential trip, to comply with Northumberland LEA policy.
Please place medication into a named plastic bag with dosage instructions clearly visible (e.g. on dispensary label). These should then be handed into the school office when arriving at school on Monday 9th March; it will be logged as being present.
Medication that is to be used on an “as needed” basis (e.g. inhalers) will be returned to pupils once logged.
If you would like to check the medication on your child’s SV5 form, please ask.
We will post updates on our school Facebook page throughout the visit. Please check regularly if you would like to keep up to date with what the pupils are up to.
