Foodbank Fundraising Event

9th December 2019

CHARITY FUNDRAISING EVENT

This year, Highfield Middle School have decided to support Newcastle West End Foodbank as our chosen local charity. Recent statistics show that a fifth of people in working UK households are trapped in relative poverty and winter is the time of year when people rely most on the food bank to help them cope with increased living costs. Newcastle West End Foodbank feed around 4100 people every month (including children) and this number is likely to increase significantly during the festive period.

At break time on Thursday 19th December, some of our pupils will be hosting stalls in the hall selling cakes, festive treats and crafts. The pupils have very kindly volunteered to make these items themselves. However, instead of our usual fundraising, we are running a 'want one, swap one' scheme whereby if pupils wish to purchase any of the items on sale they can do so by exchanging their donated food items which will then be given to the foodbank to help them over Christmas and New Year.

We would love to be a part of making Christmas a happy time for those in need and really hope you can help us in doing so. As always, we appreciate your support and generosity.
