Outdoor Learning Area Development

7th February 2019

The development of our outdoor learning area is coming along nicely. So far we have rebuilt our pond area with a new dipping platform and fencing, built willow arches and arbours to create an outdoor amphitheatre area, planted bulbs to create a hillside meadow, and have installed bark-chip walkways amongst our wilderness garden. We have lots more planned and we can't wait until this space is usable for our pupils.

As the next stage of the development, we will be creating year group gardens at the rear of the school building. Each year group has been given a theme for their garden. Tomorrow our Year 5 pupils will begin this project by designing their ideal garden on the theme of "Seaside" as part of a year group competition. Over the coming weeks, we will then be building the winning design. We are looking for seaside related items: lobster pots, old rowing boat, pieces of rope, pots or any plants, seeds, bulbs or cuttings, wood or gravel would be gratefully received! Progress updates to follow.
