Safety Works Trip

21st March 2018

Year 5 had a brilliant time today at Safety Works in Newcastle. The conduct and behaviour of our pupils was positively commented on by staff at the centre and we were so thrilled with their impeccable behaviour.

Our pupils learnt about road safety and safe crossing from Northumberland Road Safety, about what to do if someone is unconscious and how to put someone in to the recovery position and how to perform abdominal thrusts to prevent choking by St John's Ambulance, the criminal conviction process and law from Northumbria Police, fire safety in the home from the Fire Service, and railway/Metro line safety from British Transport Police.

Fully expect the pupils to come home tonight and test your smoke detectors, question you about safety in their own home and wanting to practise putting you in the recovery position. We were amazed at the amount of pupils who did not know their own address- please help your child to learn this for use in an emergency situation.

Well done to Year 5 for representing Highfield so positively.
