Titanic Day Year 5

23rd May 2019

TITANIC DAY YEAR 5

Today Year 5 took part in an experiential learning day based on the Titanic disaster. Pupils were randomly assigned a role as a First, Second or Third class passenger and dressed up as their passenger for the day.

In the morning, pupils took part in 4 different learning activities:
- Charcoal drawing
- Primary Source History detective investigation
- A moral dilemma lesson based on discussing spaces in a lifeboat
- Designing and building a boat, and then testing it with weights.

In the afternoon we were visited by David from The RNLI who delivered a presentation explaining the work of the RNLI, types of rescues and how to stay safe in water.

We finished the day off by having a grand feast in the hall.

Congratulations to Tyler, Samuel, George C and Emily S for having their designs chosen to win the Titanic model building competition.

Thank you to parents and carers for supporting the pupils with putting together such brilliant costumes and sending in food items. Thank you to Mrs Moore and the Year 5 Team for organising this excellent day.
