Vulnerable Children and Key Workers

19th March 2020

KEY FRONTLINE WORKERS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN

You will know that we are starting to plan for the closure of schools. To assist with this planning we need to identify what the need will be across the nine schools in the Tyne Community Learning Trust.

We are being asked to offer care to children where parents work in front line occupations and WHO HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE CHILD CARE. These people might be:

 NHS staff working in frontline care paramedics/ cleaners/ pharmacists/etc
 People in the food supply chain, transportation, food shops, farmers
 Emergency services
 Social Workers
 Teachers

Currently we can work with children from 2-18 who require care. We are also being asked to provide care for vulnerable children and children with an EHCP. If you believe your child to be in this category please respond to this letter as outlined below.

Please note this is just to assess numbers. If you think you will require this and want to take up the offer please respond to the Parentmail questionnaire.

Please indicate if you will require care for your child just for school hours or if you will need
wraparound care before school starts and after school (we do not yet know if we can offer this but it is helpful for planning purposes).

We will be in touch with all parents to let them know the arrangements for next week, initially and then the ongoing arrangements.

This is a real challenge for us organisationally and we do not yet have all information. Please be assured as soon as we have a full plan in place we will let you know (most likely this will be tomorrow).

Best wishes
