Highfield 'tag-teams' with WWE and "be a STAR"
6th November 2012
Don't be a bully...... be a STAR (Show Tolerance And Respect)
During half term some very special guests visited Highfield to launch an anti-bullying campaign that has only previously been rolled out in America and Canada. The internationally renowned wresting entertainment company, WWE came to Highfield to talk with pupils about the effects of bullying. WWE Superstar Zack Ryder and WWE Diva Eve Torres led a talk on their experiences with bullying and advising pupils on how to put a stop to it. The school was presented with a WWE replica champtionship belt as a gift, which was signed by Zack and Eve.
"be a STAR" is an anti-bullying alliance campaign co-founded by WWE. Its mission is to ensure a positive and equitable social environment for everyone regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation through grassroots efforts beginning with education and awareness.
WWE has had huge success in American schools rolling out the be a STAR programme, and now Highfield has become the first school in the UK to make the pledge to end bullying with WWE. Working alongside WWE and "be a STAR", Highfield is committed to promoting positive methods of social interaction and encouraging people to treat others as equals and with respect.
"be a STAR" is an extension to the work and systems in place within school to address bullying. Together we can spread the message that bullying can be stopped.
