History of the Partnership

Global School Partnership Zambia Visit

In February Miss Johnson and Mrs Kidd visited Rokana Basic School in Kitwe, Zambia for a week. The visit proved to be a very positive experience in finding out about similarities and differences in our countries.

They were afforded the opportunity of visiting a range of schools and the university. Whilst there they were followed by a Zambia TV team who were very interested in education here in England.

Our children and Zambian children at Rokana School were linked via webcams which were taken to Zambia. The whole school had a joint assembly, there were opportunities to speak to each others classes and teachers. Feedback from our children and staff has been fantastic. It has been a significant event in the school’s life to date.

The project is continuing and has a specific focus on environmental issues. Highfield will have two Zambian teachers visit Prudhoe for a week in the second half of the summer term. Funding for this Global Partnership has been via a grant from the British Council. We are looking forward to further developing our link with Rokana.
